Kentucky State Seal Button ( Tice - KY200-A2 )

Here is a nice dug Kentucky coat button in overall good condition. It is a 3-piece button and still retains the shank. There pushes noted on the face or reverse of the button and the shank is bent over. The back is marked ' Super Fine / Paris ' of which you can see ' SUP***** / PARIS '. It has a nice brown patina noted. You can also read the state motto around the side ' United We Stand, Divided We Fall '. It is suggested in Tice's Button book that this backmark was used to prevent possible punishment for supplying Southern contracts. The recovery site is exactly unknown, but was recovered from South Central Tennessee.

South Carolina Coat Button (Tice SC264-A1)

Nice looking non-dug South Carolina button in good condition, no damage noted and retains its original shank. The front has the standard South Carolina seal with palm tree with S. C. on a lined field. The reverse has ' Van Wart Son & Co.'. These were obtained by Van War and Son, of England, for the state of South Carolina for use during the American Civil War.

Price: $95.00 USD (Sale Pending)

VMI Cadet Coat Button (Tice VAS294-C2)

Very nice non-dug Virginia Military Institute button with no damage noted at all. The front is on a lined field with 'CADET' arched across the top and 'V.M.I.' across the bottom. It is accented by a rope style border. Of course the Commonwealth's Motto is seen on the center of the button. The reverse has a backmark of 'D. Evans & Co. Attleboro' in a swallow tail ribbon. Tice suggest that these maybe infact post war since no wartime V.M.I. uniforms have been found with Evans buttons on them.
