Here is a really nice, early production, Colt Navy with an 1857 production date. The iron is smooth throughout with no pitting what so every. It still retains the finish with hints of bluing. The New York City Address can be seen on the top of the barrel, what's cool is this is the variation with the 'i' missing. The action works perfectly and is as tight as the day it was made.

The serial number is all matching except for the wedge which is a replacement with no number. The brass is aged nicely. There are some hints of the naval scene still present and all of the nipples are original. There are two screws missing - one on the right, just behind the trigger guard and one on top to the right of the hammer. (see pics). On the trigger guard there is a brass pin replacing one screw. It looks like an early repair. You can also see that there are brass inlays on the walnut grips. I could not find an inscription on the weapon.
