A nice M1850 Foot Officer's Sword by Horstmann with a great untouched look.

The ray skin wrap is present and in good worn condition. It still has the wire which remains tight. Overall the grip and guard remain untouched and has not been re-wrapped. The brass has a nice aged patina throughout with the pommel cap and guard matching nicely. The blade has a nice dark gun metal gray tone throughout with no surface or iron pitting noted. There are a few flea bites towards the bottom half of the blade. The remnants of the Horstmann etching can be seen on the ricasso. The 'US' and floral design can still be seen, just as the Eagle & E Pluribus Unum on the opposite side of the blade.

The scabbard is in good condition with no surface or iron pitting. The mounts are all present and match the sword nicely. There are no markings on the scabbard other than a rack number on the drag. The screw is missing on the top mount, but its solid and doesn't move. The top ring shows wear from use.

The entire sword is just a nice example and would be a nice addition to your officer's display.
