Full standing pose of Confederate General Lloyd Tilghman of Kentucky. CDV has some soiling but does not take away from the overall clearness of the image. Backmark of E & H.T. Anthony, New York is found on the back.

Tilghman was made inspector of Forts Henry and Donelson in Tennessee and early on began a series of warnings that those points were in a woeful state of unreadiness. His repeated please fell on deaf ears. When Fort Henry fell, he was taken prisoner. after he was exchanged in 1862, he went on to fight at Holly Springs, Corinth, and then the Vicksburg Campaign. He was killed in 1863 by a shell frag at The Battle of Champions Hill.
