A great looking M1827 Non-regulation infantry officer's sword by Solingen. These are one of my most favorite infantry sword because of the usual nicely etched blade and wonderful guard. This one is no exception. The blade is in over all good condition with a few 'flea' bites by feel, but not visible along the edge. There is no pitting noted and the etching can still be easily seen. On one side is the 'eagle' motif with 'E. Pluribus Unum' etched on one side. The other has the etched 'US' and on the ricasso the stamp of Solingen. The blade length is 32 - 1/4 inch long.

The guard has a nice gun metal gray tone throughout and exhibits nice aging. The 'Eagle' is laid in the basket and contrasts nicely with the original, untouched 'ray' grip. There is a small pice nicked away, but otherwise the wire wrap and skin wrap is solid and tight.

The metal scabbard is in overall good condition. There is some pitting noted towards the throat and drag, but otherwise exhibits typical aging. It retains the throat, mounts, and rings. There are two creases or what some call 'anti rattle marks' below the lower mount. This causes the sword to fit nice and tight within the scabbard.
