Here is a nice looking M1842 Springfield musket in good condition. The metal has a nice dark attic tone with minimal pitting noted on the barrel, but gets more significant towards the breech. The lock plate displays the eagle in front of the hammer and the Spring / field / 1848 behind the hammer. The action works well with the hammer responding to both half and full cock. It retains an original full length ramrod which is correct for this model.

The walnut stock is in good condition with no major damage or repairs noted. There are two initials on the bottom of the butt stock M D. There are two very faint cartouches on the stock flat opposite of the lock plate. This is a nice example overall.
