Here is a M1860 Ames cavalry saber with a nice war date of 1863 in overall good condition. The blade has some modeling noted throughout with spots of some pitting noted. There are some nicks down the edge of the blade. The ricasso is marked with the Ames scroll mark on one side and on the opposite there is 'US / DR / 1863' and the leather washer is present. The guard has a nice dark tone throughout. The leather wrap and wire are all original and intact. The 'DR' is also on the pommel cap.

The scabbard that is with the sword is actually for a domestic M1840 cavalry sword. It is original and retains the hangers and loops. It has a nice dark attic brown tone throughout with a couple dings towards the bottom, just above the drag. There is leather on the loops, but was probably added later.
