A nice percussion cap box in which the leather remains for the most part supple and shows the typical crazing. When lifting the outer flap you will find the stamping of R NECE which is the Reubon Nece & Company out of Philadelphia. There is no lambs wool present, though a nipple pick is present. The belt loops are also present and are such that you could easily place it on a belt for display if desired. The brass finial is also present. Nece was contracted for nearly 4,000 cap boxes between April of 1863 and April of 1865.
