M1860 cavalry saber by C. Roby, and marked as such, and dated 1864. The blade has some flea bites down the edge but otherwise has a bright finish with minimal pitting. The leather washer is still present. The brass guard has been cut (as can be seen in the images) for no reason I can think of, other than so it would hang on the wall or it was accomplished during the war, possibly why it was hung in the GAR Hall.

There are two reasons I have attributed it to a GAR hall 1. That’s the story that came with it and 2. Its painted in gold paint (which has started to wear off years ago) that is often seen on these Veteran pieces. The leather grip is worn (as can be seen in the pics) and wire is still present though not overly tight. All are original.
