M1840 Musician Sword by the Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee, Mass. The blade is starting to turn a gun metal gray tone, but the edge remains good with no nicks noted. There is no pitting to make note of. The ricasso is marked with the fading scroll Ames stamp, the opposite has US / HDH / 1864. The brass guard has a nice patina as well with a H stamp, most likely an off strike of the ‘HDH’ inspector’s mark.

The leather scabbard is in good condition with the brass throat (original) and drag (original) present. The leather scabbard in my opinion is a replacement (very good one) which remains slightly nimble with no damage or repairs noted. The stitching remains intact. There are inspectors initials on the drag GWC. The scabbard fits the sword nicely.
