Tired M1816 .69caliber Springfield musket dated 1841. The iron is modeled and smooth to the touch throughout most all of the barrel, there is considerable pitting near the nipple indicating significant use. The tang of the barrel has had some repairs. As you can see, this musket was converted from flintlock to percussion with a cone in barrel conversion. The lockplate is very nice with the 'eagle' motif / US and Springfield / 1841 behind the hammer. The action is tight and works well.

The stock shows normal dings and mars associated with a weapon of this age. There are no major repairs noted or active breaks that I can see. There is considerable burnout underneath the hammer. You can faintly see the oval cartouche on the flat opposite the lock plate. The gun has overall nice appeal for its age and what it represents.
