M1816 Bayonet w/ Scabbard
Item #: FDR14-054

Here is a nice M1816 Bayonet with some moderate pitting scattered evenly throughout giving the bayonet and early battlefield pickup look. It has the standard 'T' mortice and on the face of the bayonet is marked 'US/WL' inspectors initials.

The leather scabbard is an early two rivet configuration and the condition of the leather shows moderate crazing that can be seen in the images. The stitching is worn away, probably due to some early conservatory efforts, but remains rigid enough to hold together. It also has the brass scabbard tip. The frog remains complete and would accept a belt, but it would need to be introduced carefully. This would go nicely to display with your early war display.
