Here is a decent NCO sword by Emerson and Silver dated 1863. The blade is full length with the very tip worn down there are some flea bites along the edge – however, there is no major pitting noted, just some modeling down the blade that is smooth to the touch. The brass guard has a nice mellow patina throughout. You can see that one of them is bent down slightly. The marks on the ricasso are sharp and discernible with “Emerson & Silver/Trenton” and on the reverse “US/DFM/1863”. The inspector's initials 'DFM' along with what I surmise to be a rack number is marked on the knuckle guard of the grip.

The metal scabbard is in fair condition with no major dents or damage noted. There is a small push about 7 inches above the drag equally represented on both sides. The brass (drag and throat) show wear with some dents and dings and the rim of the throat has been pushed. The screw is present at the throat but is missing on the drag – it is stable. It still retains the clip for the frog. 'DFM' is also stamped on the drag indicating that this scabbard is most likely original to the sword.
