6th Plate Tintype of a Soldier & Civilian
Item #: FDR13-191

Here is a nice clear 6th plate tintype in a complete leatherette case the subjects are unidentified. The two sit next to each other one in a typical civilian suit and the other in what appears to be a Union sack coat. There are no emulsions, no creases, no damage whatsoever. The image could be just a very slight shade lighter, but there is no gilding noted. Brother, cousins, or simply boyhood friends saying good by before he marches off, we will never know. The leatherette case is in good condition and has very nice eagle motif on the lid and a circular geometric design on the back. Appears to be the original spine.
